A big thank you to Evelyn's dad for cutting the wood for our project and to Nolan's mom for helping us create our beautiful Thanksgiving turkeys! The students were so proud of their work, and these special creations will make wonderful centrepieces for your Thanksgiving celebrations.
It has been a busy and exciting week in Division 13! We began both our Reader's Workshop and Math Stations. During Reader's Workshop, students rotated through a variety of literacy activities designed to build reading and writing skills. In Math, we focused on patterns, odd and even numbers, and place value (tens and ones) while playing two fun Thanksgiving-themed math games. In Theme (Science and Art), we learned and reviewed the pumpkin life cycle. The students did an amazing job creating their pumpkin projects and were very proud of their finished work.
We also completed our special Terry Fox art project, and the display is now hanging in the hallway. We have already received many compliments! If you are visiting the school, please take a moment to stop by and have a look. I'll be sure to share a photo in next week's update.
Homework: Gratitude Scavenger Hunt
As Thanksgiving approaches, we have been discussing how fortunate we are and the importance of showing gratitude. Students have been given a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt to complete at home as they look for things they are thankful for in their daily lives.
